Rhinoplasty is a plastic surgery operation performed for people who are not satisfied with the shape of their nose or for reasons of respiratory distress.
Rhinoplasty, which has a very high success rate, is the most common aesthetic operation performed worldwide. Thanks to rhinoplasty, also known as rhinoplasty, both aesthetically good-looking nose and breathing problems are eliminated.
Choosing a doctor is of great importance for a successful rhinoplasty. The doctor’s experience and postoperative recommendations are very important in order to obtain a natural-looking nose that is suitable for the person’s facial structure.
How long does it take to recover after rhinoplasty?
There are some points to be considered during the healing process after rhinoplasty. In this process, it is extremely important that the nose is not hit and infected. In rhinoplasty surgery performed in the morning, the patient is usually discharged in the afternoon, and if necessary, the patient is kept under observation overnight. A few hours after the surgery, the patient can walk around the hospital and start to eat liquid nutrition. Swelling and bruising in the first days after surgery are temporary and normal. In this process, bruising and swelling can be prevented from getting worse by making regular ice compresses on the forehead and cheeks. The healing period is one week to 10 days and the casts are removed at the end of this period. Approximately 10 days after rhinoplasty surgery, the bruises that may develop due to the operation will be gone and the person can return to normal life as the healing will be complete.
What should be considered after rhinoplasty?
After rhinoplasty, especially in the first week, the doctor’s recommendations should be followed. After open or closed rhinoplasty, the following should be considered;
Since the plaster on the nose should stay for about a week, the plaster should not get wet and stay moist during this process. In other words, you should not take a shower for the first week and should not be in extremely hot environments such as saunas.
Although swelling and bruising are quite normal in the first days, this is temporary. In order for this situation to pass in a shorter time, you should lie with your head elevated and a cold compress should be applied to the forehead and cheeks for 10 minutes every hour.
During the recovery period of about 2 weeks, you should not lie face down and the nose should be protected from any kind of impact and pressure. Sports activities should be avoided.
Sprays and creams recommended by the doctor for cleaning the nose are carefully applied.
In the first days after the surgery, attention should be paid to feeding with soft foods, difficult chewing movements and excessive mimic movements that will put pressure on the nose should be avoided.
It is not recommended to be exposed to intense sunlight and wear glasses for the first few months. It takes months for the nose to take its final form after rhinoplasty surgery.
